Chloe Handbags
The luxury French design house Chloe handbags, located in Paris, has been making luxurious fashions for women since 1956. It was founded by Gaby Aghion. With top designers such as Karl Lagerfeld, Martine Sitbon, and Stella McCartney, Chloe established itself as one of the world's top design houses. In addition to fashion, Chloe is noted for accessories and fragrances.
Karl Lagerfeld, who currently serves as creative director for Fendi and Chanel, spearheaded a sexy, feminine image for Chloe that continues today. Designer Martine Sitbon brought a more modern look to Chloe and, in 1997, British designer Stella McCartney took Chloe helm. McCartney's young age and relative inexperience drew criticism from those who believe she received the position only because of her celebrity parents, ex-Beatle Paul an his wife, Linda McCartney.

McCartney's first collection in October, 1997 put to rest any criticism of her abilities as creative director. The collection included lace camisoles and petticoat skirts and her ready-to-wear designs lifted Chloe to new heights. McCartney, an animal-rights activist, refused to work with fur and leather during her tenure. McCartney announced her departure from Chloe in early 2001, naming 27-year-old Phoebe Philo as her successor.
Philo was a relative unknown, who did not have the credentials of designers at any other major house. Her first collection combined casual street chic and whimsical femininity. Philo's designs established an image that the company calls "luxurious, romantic, and quintessentially French." Philo created several "it" bags during her time at Chloe, one of them was the Paddington bag, a smash hit in 2004.
On January 6, 2006, Philo stepped down as creative director and in October, 2006, Paulo Melim Anderson took over. "His mission is to find the new direction for the Chloe brand," Chloe chairman and chief executive Ralph Toledano stated.
