The successful future of the company was ensured when Burberry invented a type of fabric that was completely water-resistant. Gradually, the company went from extreme popularity to reduced sales as its styles began to be viewed as old-fashioned. However, just before the millennium (1900), Burberry launched a new line of handbags, which revitalized the Burberry brand.
